Event details
We are very excited to announce a Microsoft Teams ‘Ask Microsoft Anything’ (AMA) specific to the new Microsoft Teams, now generally available!
The AMA will take place on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. PT in the comment section below.
An AMA is a live online event similar to an “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit. This AMA gives you the opportunity to connect with members of the product engineering team who will be on hand to answer your questions and listen to feedback.

- KeithTBrass ContributorAny update on the ability to Pin apps to the sidebar?
- Brandon SheaBrass ContributorI've been wondering the same thing, hopefully this gets added soon. I know it's going to come up a lot when users start trying to use the new People app.
- jkfboyerCopper ContributorIs there a way to stay on Teams Classic and control the roll out to our enterprise? How long will the toggle to switch back to classic be?
- Forrest_HIron ContributorWe have a drop-dead date, and you're switching, whether you like it or not. March 31, 2024 https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/MicrosoftTeams/new-teams-automatic-upgrade-announced
- Curtis4Brass ContributorYou have to do this from the Teams Update options from the Teams Admin portal.
- Paul FredericksonBrass ContributorHello, our organization has noticed that Windows notifications have reverted back to Teams notifications vs system notifications. Is this observation correct? If so, are there any plans to change to Windows system notifications? Similarly, do Mac notifications now use MacOS system notifications? Are there any plans to change that?
- Hughes818Iron ContributorIs the Who app going to be deprecated within Teams?
- Forrest_HIron ContributorYes, if you use Who in the New Teams it tells you Who Bot is being Deprecated by December 2023 and they are moving to CoPilot Actual text of notice; Who bot is being deprecated and will be replaced by Copilot https://aka.ms/m365copilotadoption in December 2023. Please check with your Tenant Admin to prepare for Copilot.
- MontyPyspockBrass ContributorWe are an Educational (A) tenant and aren't able to use CoPilot right now (it's only available for E tenants). In addition, even when it arrives for A tenants, if it's the same pricing, it will be $30/month/user with a minimum of 300 users. That means that Microsoft is essentially removing the Who Bot functionality for non-E tenants. Even for E tenants, that's a massive amount of money just to replace Who Bot, and many places won't be able to afford it or don't want it...they just want Who Bot. Is it possible that the CoPilot replacement for Who Bot will be available to all kind of as a tease for the functionality, but without all the massive lift of the general CoPilot functionality in a given tenant?

Good Morning. When I search for teams in the search bar it only finds Classic. When I open classic it gives me the option to keep running new or switch to classic. Is there a way from search to run the 'new' teams?
- RocioABrass ContributorThis is an issue I am also having. The day after the New Teams downloads, I can no longer search for it nor see it in the list of apps on WIN11.

Thanks Bryan and DUH. I think it's because for awhile when I searched with the word teams it wouldn't come up at all unless you types Microsoft first so if you type Microsoft that option isn't there. Today I was checking both and print screened the one I don't usually use. Would be nice if it were consistent. I wonder if there is a way to designate the New one as the Best Match.

This is from Windows 11 whne I searched for "Teams"
- VaheesKBrass ContributorWe have our policies set under teams update policy "Use new Teams Client" to "Not Enabled". If we set this to not enabled, does the Microsoft enterprise update channel override the TAC policy and set New Teams as the default client and allow the toggle?
- brittanynorthupCopper ContributorCan you please work on the ability to add a sub team?
- Hughes818Iron ContributorWhy did Microsoft decide to have both a "Meet" app and a "Calendar" app in Teams as well as a "Chat" app and "People" app in Teams? It seems to make things a bit more confusing for end users.
- vstjohnOccasional ReaderHas Lamabot been sunsetted? I no longer see it in Teams.
- Derrick_1300Copper ContributorSome users have the slider to "Try the new Teams", but they get an error stating an org policy prevents them from using it. This works from some but not all. Any ideas what could cause this?
