Event details
We are very excited to announce a Microsoft Teams ‘Ask Microsoft Anything’ (AMA) specific to the new Microsoft Teams, now generally available!
The AMA will take place on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. PT in the comment section below.
An AMA is a live online event similar to an “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit. This AMA gives you the opportunity to connect with members of the product engineering team who will be on hand to answer your questions and listen to feedback.

- KRettigCopper ContributorIs presence going to be added to the People app/Contact lists?
- AaronThorneCopper ContributorMy org has the same question.
- Sandy_RiceBrass ContributorAnd, we currently are not able to pin it to the navigation bar. That's an issue.
- Hughes818Iron ContributorIs there a bug with the new People app for the New Teams? We are finding that it is showing duplicate contacts/people for some people it is displaying. Also, it doesn't look like you can create a category in the People app…even though the end user documentation states you can. Any updated on that feature?
- binodguptaOccasional ReaderCan someone share the Event link please..?
- Michelle_SweeneyBrass Contributordid you find out if there is a live event or is the discussion board the only live part of this even?
- ronisezenonCopper ContributorThis is it. Above it says: "The AMA will take place on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. PT in the comment section below."
- ronisezenonCopper ContributorI was wondering the same, but this is it. Above it says: "The AMA will take place on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. PT in the comment section below."
- rmonksCopper ContributorThis is the event. It's just a Q&A session.
- Missy_EvensonBrass ContributorThis is my first time attending this type of session and I find it very confusing and challenging to follow! Does anyone else feel this way? Or have any tips to make it more accessible/user friendly?

When will the Microsoft Teams Classic client stop working? Do users have to be on the new Teams by specific deadlines? Is it possible for an organization to stay on the Classic Team for an extra year or longer? (since we have the option not to include the new Teams client with Microsoft managed Upgrade via 365 apps)
For example, If I plan to set the Global (Org-Wide default) settings "Use new Teams Client" to "Not enabled." Since I want to control the roll-out via MECM using the "teamsbootstrapper" for more planned adoption rather than the new Teams client just rolling out to machines.
I want to mitigate known issues; changes/updates can sometimes impact users' daily work life.
Also, when will the offline install of the bootstrapper be available? Any dates? This will help with bulk deployment a lot- BillKirstIron Contributor
The Classic Teams will force update to New Teams by March 31, 2024 as shown in this YouTube video:

- blcm_23Occasional ReaderIs there a live session running now? Can I have the link to attend?
- Dan_MontaieBrass ContributorI believe this is just an AMA, post questions and Community Managers will reply with answers
- Heather AdamsBrass ContributorCan you specify what features are still missing from New Teams? The TechCommunity entry only states "New Teams now has full feature parity for almost all features including..." but does not list what is not there yet.

We are not publishing a detailed list of features still migrating from classic to new Teams at this time, but the known issues list provides an overview of what's missing and coming soon: https://learn.microsoft.com/microsoftteams/new-teams-known-issues. Any features that you may be missing are continuously migrating over and rolling out to new Teams on a daily basis. - JPElrodCopper ContributorAnd the "known issues" web page is NOT a complete list of missing features by any stretch
- Forrest_HIron ContributorList of Known Issues / changes listed by MS https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/new-teams-known-issues
- nhawk258Iron ContributorThis webpage is not accurate in the slightest.
- Hughes818Iron ContributorMany users are choosing Slack over Teams because Slack allows multiple users to share their screen at the same time. Any idea if that feature will come to Teams soon?
- manlidengCopper Contributorhow to use dark model in new teams?
- Malek115Copper ContributorHello, when will the option "Notify when available" will be available in new teams ? Thank you
- Forrest_HIron ContributorSo far it is not going to be added back. Method for presence and status is being removed / changed see this article for more https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/new-teams-known-issues
- rmonksCopper ContributorWhen will users have to start using the New Teams and when will the toggle be removed to switch back and forth?
- Forrest_HIron Contributorwe have a drop-dead date, and you're switching, whether you like it or not. March 31, 2024 https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/MicrosoftTeams/new-teams-automatic-upgrade-announced
- AaronThorneCopper ContributorSame question from me, assuming its general release channel.

Per our GA announcement blog, "[w]e will soon begin making new Teams the default app for all Teams users based on our schedule, which is detailed on this page." That learn.microsoft.com article details when this will happen: https://learn.microsoft.com/microsoftteams/new-teams-desktop-admin#when-will-the-new-teams-become-the-default-client.
