Event details
We are very excited to announce a Microsoft Teams ‘Ask Microsoft Anything’ (AMA) specific to the new Microsoft Teams, announced at Enterprise Connect.
The AMA will take place on Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. PT in the comment section below.
An AMA is a live online event similar to an “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit. This AMA gives you the opportunity to connect with members of the product engineering team who will be on hand to answer your questions and listen to feedback.

Video/voice performance:
- Are there plans to reduce latency during calls? What are the tips to optimize this?
- Are there plans to improve video and/or audio performance? I'm thinking mostly for video - 60fps, 1080p, and even 4K options?
- Does (or will) Teams make use of AI hardware in CPUs to improve video and/or audio performance? So that when picking CPUs, we shouldn't only focus only on core count, frequency, IPC, cache, and those other "traditional" factors?

Hi Simon,
If you haven't seen this yet, check out this blog post that goes into detail on the benefits of the re-architecture Microsoft Teams: Advantages of the new architectureAlso the comments from Mark Longton are worth skimming through, as he adds additional info. Hopefully this helps.

Hi Simon, re latency, here are some resources for Teams admins:

- Nicole FosterBrass ContributorI am noticing Loop is gone from 2.0, is this because users are meant to use the new Notes in meetings?

Hey Nicole - Loop will come later this year within new Teams. It's a prioritized item for us! Thanks for the question. - Loop is basically an app integration which is still being worked into 2.0. So it's not gone, just not added to 2.0 just yet. I believe it works in chat's currently, but the other support will come.
- shawnpmillerBrass ContributorI tried using loop yesterday in a 1:1 chat and it wasn't available as part of my chat options. So I flipped back to Teams 1.0 to create the loop. Then switched back to 2.0 and it just shows as a link in the chat thread.
- BenRuppCopper ContributorI recently noticed that "My Activity" has been removed from the OLD teams at some point. Are there plans to re-integrate a feature or capability to go back and see what your own personal activity is? Did this get removed or is it moved to somewhere else? For reference the following article suggests that you can see "My Activity" in the activity feed. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/explore-the-activity-feed-in-teams-91c635a1-644a-4c60-9c98-233db3e13a56
- So it moved. Took me a minute to figure it out. But if you Start a chat with (you) or yourself in chat which was added a bit ago. Then on that chat window you can click the activity tab. Which is essentially the same thing I believe.
- BenRuppCopper ContributorThanks, Chris! That's what I was looking for! - Might be good to update the Microsoft doc I referenced.
- HermineTurner-TAPBrass ContributorWhen will we be able to restrict video downloads/changes for channel recordings without going through PowerShell so that channel meeting recordings can be shared with guest users.
- roman_frillarteFormer EmployeeHi HermineTurner, thanks for the question and interest. We don't have any updates on this to share at this time. You can always also share new ideas or vote/comment on existing ones at https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/forum/ad198462-1c1c-ec11-b6e7-0022481f8472
- Lisa_GluttingCopper ContributorHaving issues with the new version of teams not communicating with the Stream app. Is this an expected problem or something weird on my end? I noticed if my coworkers send videos now they just show as not-viewable black squares in a team chat.

Hey Lisa - thanks for reporting this. This looks like a feature gap that we're implementing now and we should see this in the client in the next few weeks. Thanks!

Hello everyone... I'm Karuana Gatimu with Teams Engineering. We are so happy you are here asking your questions. Overall we wanted to note that many features you may be asking about are already slated to come later this calendar year. So, if you see us respond in that way multiple times it's because we have a long list of features that are coming to you over the coming months, including New Teams for MAC, VDI and more. To stay up to date visit our main New Teams page at https://aka.ms/NewTeams which we review and update regularly. Thanks for joining!- BenRuppCopper ContributorThanks Karuana, you are always so helpful - thanks for being an end user advocate!
- Nicole FosterBrass ContributorWhat are the plans for 2.0 being available for Mac's and will it have the same features and functionality, or will you be looking to enhance them on 2.0?
- Daron HillCopper ContributorWhat is the status of Microsoft Places - what licensing CAL will be required to use this feature?
- egwarrenCopper ContributorIs there plans to allow "get link to private channel?" Currently, you can only get a link to a public team channel.
