Word problem losing a file, completely
On 22/3/24 at about 5pm, Iwas working on a Word file , when suddenly the screen flicked to something different, and Word closed (by itself). The file on screen was totally corrupted, onlyjas been totally los one part of one line showing, which was either something I put on clipboard or something I deleted. Opening the file again, showed it was corrupted on my Pc and also on Onedrive.
So what I think happened – a software fault caused the file corruption, then it saved the file (corrupted), then Word closed. It looks like an intended procedure that went wrong.
I recalled that it had been happening for a while before, but without total loss of the file (ie screen corrupted, word close, and file reopen was ok.
I tried to find some way of recovering the file, even an older version, but have failed. So, this file has been totally lost. Note - a System Restore was tried by MS support, which failed. And, I have since realised that System Restore does not restore user files - and strangely there doesnt appear to be any recovery for user files.
I would love to hear from others, anyone else had this happen - or any suggestions etc..
- WorkableBat5816Copper ContributorWas this a blank document you created? Or was it from a website?

It was created totally by me, over about 5 months. WorkableBat5816
- Rex_BeerfisherCopper ContributorAnother thing - I asked the MS support person ... is it caused by a software fault. She didnt reply to that....said "we wont charge you for any help" ...
