Word document is displayed different on different systems

I have a document that is 372 pages when opened in Word on Windows 11, and 427 pages when opened in Word on MacOS 26.3.1.
The document is written in an Amazon KDP template, so the page size and margins etc are identical in both systems. This is a real puzzle...
