Section Breaks, Page Breaks and Watermarks
Hi,
Here is my problem:
I am creating a Word doc that has several Sections.
1. If I use Page Breaks to separate the sections, the headers for each page are automatically linked. If I now insert a watermark, such as "DRAFT", the watermark will show on every page.
2. If I use Section Breaks to separate the sections, then I can have separate headers for each section ("Link to previous header" is optional), which is highly desirable. However, if I now insert the "DRAFT" watermark, it only shows up in the section hat I am in; in other words, it ill not show up on every page.
I need to have BOTH: the ability to have varying section headers AND the ability to show the watermark on all pages.
HELP!!
Thank you.

Watermarks are objects that are anchored to the page header. In a document with multiple unlinked sections, you can copy the watermark from one header to another. See also http://wordfaqs.ssbarnhill.com/AnchorToHeader.htm.
As Doug pointed out, depending on what should go into the header, you may not need to unlink your headers. To repeat text from the page, make use of a STYLEREF field.
JohnActuaryPresident03 Let's get the terminology correct!
Page Breaks separate pages, not Sections.
Section Breaks of which there are the following types
Next Page
Continuous
Even Page
Odd Page
separate the document into Sections with the start of the Section following the break being of the type indicated by the name of the Section Break.
If you want a mixture of constant content (the DRAFT watermark) and varying content in the Header of Footer, you may be able to achieve that by the use of a STYLEREF field for the varying content, in which case, it may not even be necessary to insert Section Breaks.
However, if the varying content does not lend itself to being displayed by the use of STYLEREF fields so that you do need to use multiple Sections with their Headers\Footers unlinked, then the only option is to insert the DRAFT watermark into each of the Sections of the document in which you want it to appear.
For information on the use of STYLEREF fields, see:
