Open Word in same-sized and -placed window
there is no guarantee that your suggestion will be implemented.
That's the understatement of the decade...
And yes, I can use the add-in. The point is I shouldn't have to. MS just doesn't care - they're too busy pushing CoPilot on the world.
But, I get it. You've got your MVP to worry about and you probably can't criticize MS or you'll risk loosing it.
If I could reproduce the particular issue you are describing—that you do not see the last used window position and size as you restart Word—I would obviously report it myself.
As far as I can remember, Word has never been able to store the size and position with individual documents.
Older versions, prior to Word 2013, did store the view and zoom ratio with individual documents. Removing that was a mistake, in my opinion. I don't know why it was done.

Sorry - several of my previous replies were a bit testy.
Honestly, I don't want or need Word to individually remember the last location of each document I've edited, I just want it to remember and restore its own position each time I launch the application.
This is an extremely frustrating experience that impacts Word, Excel & Access, as well as just about every other application and has been going on for years. I don't really think that it's just a Word issue, it's an entire Windows issue. I run 2 monitors at the office and 4 at home and, unless an application window is maximized, I have to rearrange almost every application after every single reboot. Sometimes, when I use my KVM at home to switch monitors between machines, I have to rearrange after switching back.
Obviously, I'm not the only one who has this issue (I'm not the one who started this thread), but it seems to be a rare thing that only plagues a few randomly selected people, so I guess that we, as the chosen ones, will just have to soldier on.
