Message: I need paid version of Adobe Acrobat to convert docx to pdf?

Just this week (05.2026) I get a message that I can only use Adobe Acrobat to convert a Word doc to PDF once. After that I need a paid version of Adobe Acrobat.  Is this correct?

Microsoft Office 365

    Thank you for your reply.

It seems as if Acrobat has become the default app for "save as" pdf in Word 365 on my system.  Not sure how this happened but I would like to go back to Microsoft pdf that you mentioned.

I can't locate a way to reset this.

    (I hope this isn't a duplicate response.)

Word has built in Save to Microsoft pdf. Use Save As.

If you are looking for "Save as Adobe pdf," yes, you do need Adobe Acrobat.

      Thank you for your response.

I want to use the default Microsoft; it seems Adobe has become the default.  If I use "export as pdf," I believe the Microsoft app is being used to convert the docx.

I would like to change it back to Microsoft so I don't have to use that Adobe paid version.  I can't seem to locate a way to do that....
