Latest update of Word has changed my doc format. print layout not working

Latest update of Word has changed my doc format. first, print layout not working, i copied the text to new doc. session break-continous and justified paragraphs. inserting session breaks aligns the last line to left. using Shift+Enter justifies the paragraph but also adds a blank line after the paragraph. FYI i have composed a book in hindi language on with formatting and hyperlink. please support. screenshot of pdf shared

  • The screenshots show a difference in line spacing across the page, but don’t establish that Print Layout itself is broken. With normal justification, Word leaves the last line of a paragraph left-aligned.

Save a backup first, then select Home > ¶ to show formatting marks. Check whether the line that won’t stretch ends with a paragraph mark or section break. Shift+Enter before a paragraph mark can leave an extra blank line, so avoid adding more breaks to force the alignment.

If you want every line, including the last, to span the full width, test Ctrl+Shift+J (Distributed alignment) on just one affected paragraph. Unlike ordinary justification, it stretches the last line too. Check the Hindi character spacing carefully before applying it elsewhere.

Keep the existing document rather than copying the whole book into a new one, since that can change section formatting and styles.

  • The screenshots show different spacing, but a PDF image cannot reveal the paragraph marks, manual line breaks or section boundaries producing it. Work on a copy of the original book rather than repeatedly pasting its contents into new documents. Turn on Show/Hide formatting marks and inspect one affected stanza or paragraph. Normal justified text leaves its last line left-aligned; Shift+Enter inserts a line break within the same paragraph, so it is not equivalent to starting a new paragraph. Check the paragraph's alignment, line spacing and spacing before and after, then compare with an unaffected passage. Section breaks should control sections, not be added merely to stretch a final line. Preserve the Hindi font and hyperlinks while testing. Separately confirm View, Print Layout and export the sample to PDF. If behavior differs between builds, provide Word's exact version and a sanitized editable sample.
