Figures Changed to White Rectangles
I opened my PC to a working Word document with numbered figures to find all of the screenshots and drawings had become blank framed boxes. I read herein that someone seemed to have a similar issue using the 365 Mac version. All of my figures had the layout option of "In Line with Text" when they "disappeared". If I follow the directions from the similare incident - switch each figure to "Top and Bottom" layout, most of the time they reappear. However some just disappear completely. If it does work, I must redo spacing/formatting the text around it, and recaption it. I have 100 + figures in this tech doc. I can't remember making any formatting changes prior to this happening. Was there a update to the software?
Steve_Strote Sounds like you may have the "Show picture placeholders" box checked. I assume that on a Mac, it is somewhere under Preferences. On a Windows computer, it is under File>Options>Advanced>Show document content.

Unchecked the box. Document good as new. How and why did I ever...I don't recall ever checking that. So grateful for the fix.
