Equations not rendering in Word
- Jun 12, 2023
Monica1265 While you can see the equation on the Web application when in View only mode, to edit the equation in that application, you need to right click on the equation and then on Equation from the menu that appears.
Doug_Robbins_Word_MVP Thank-you so much for trying to help. Here is a link to one of my files which includes equations: https://1drv.ms/w/s!AuBYuu_N1r2yhhUN-E0yfes__gwq?e=ARpjjb
I'm not sure whether or not you will be able to see the equations rendered properly. When I open the file all I see (where all of the equations ought to be) is a grey box which says [Equation]. This has affected all of my files.
I found that if I download the file and open it with the desktop version of MS Word the equations render properly. I would prefer to work from the Web version of MS Word because it's easier, but working from the desktop version is a possibility for me.
Thanks again.

MuradValiev Can you upload a screen shot that shows the document and the Equation Tools pane.

Hi Doug.
Yes of course. Here you will find two images: https://imgur.com/a/Rts5yfx
One image represents the Equations written on the Microsoft Word Document Application itself. The products here (Word & etc) are up-to-date and were opened and used through Windows 10.
The second image represents equations transferred to Microsoft Word Document. It was uploaded to OneDrive Live to be shared across group members. However, the equation data somehow failed to be transferred, hence I do not understand why the equations are gone.
Our unfortunate solution was to ignore the Live option. Do you have any suggestions for what we can do?
- Monica1265Jun 12, 2023Copper ContributorHi Doug, thanks for your response. I think that you are correct that it has something to do with the mode I am viewing the document in. If I go to "Reading View" I can see the equations (but I can't edit them). My confusion is now just that I used to be able to see the equations perfectly well on the page that you have screenshot above, and that was useful to me.
Your answer really helps though, thanks so much.- WastemytimeMicrosoftJun 14, 2023Copper Contributor
