Windows 11 Start menu not working
I just updated to Windows 11 today and the Start menu hasn't been successfully opened.
I've tried to open it with touchscreen, mouse, physical keyboard and the touch keyboard but none of them worked. By the way, when I tap or click on it (not push the keyboard), it will act like it is opened (the icon will be marked) but I've never seen the pop up. I restarted my laptop, restart the Windows Explorer as well but the issue is still persists.
Everything else works so far so the system works alright.
I'm hoping that some of you have ideas on how to fix this issue or what it could be.
Thanks

I had the same problem. Via Control Panel I looked at recently installed updates and set about uninstalling them.
When I had uninstalled update "KB5036980" everything went back to normal.
Hope this works for others who have the "Start button doesn't work" problem.

- LtBlightCopper ContributorI did the latest Windows 11 updates today and I have an issue : the start button doesn't work anymore (Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Insider Preview (10.0.22635.3575) (KB5037862)).
Do you have the same behavior?
Many thanks !

This is another solution which worked for me on a laptop with a dedicated GPU: disable and re-enable the Intel graphics driver.
(from this https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows11/comments/purakw/comment/heihsoi/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
"3 - Go to Device Manger
4 - Disable the Intel graphic driver
The screen will go blank then come back
Try clicking 'Start' then success! 🥳
5 - Enable the Intel graphic driver again and hope to God that it still works! It does for me, after a restart too."

Hi all,
Today I upgraded to Windows 11 via the Windows 10 update app and found the Start Menu in Windows 11 badly broken (wouldn't open consistently, disappeared, etc.). Also Windows firewall was off and refused to be switched back on.
The good news is that by using the "Reset this PC" function all the issues were resolved. The bad news is you have to reinstall all your apps.

my windows 11 was doing the same thing and I just fixed it by installing "Intel - System - 4/12/2017 12:00:00 AM - 14.28.47.630"
it was listed as an optional driver update, should be put front and center as a recommended update after all the issues its caused me over the past week. - WhySoWylde_TTVCopper ContributorCTRL Shift and ESC to open Task Manager
Open a folder
Right click on windows explorer in the task manager
Restart service
Done
