How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
- The November 2023 update added “never combined” mode on the taskbar for Windows 11. To find this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors. Set Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels to Never. It also added a separate setting for turning this feature on for other taskbars when you use multiple monitors.

- RWR5280Brass ContributorTo MS: This is really bad. Strongly recommend rolling back to more Win10 functionality.
To Users: Don't go buy Win10 or put any money in their pockets. If this were a restaurant, an error like this would make me want to get up and leave without paying, not move to a table in the place that is less sticky.
At least it's an serious error to remove the OPTION, since obviously a lot of people hate it this way. Removing the simple but critical feature has reduced the taskbar to a Fisher Price preschool toy bin level of usefulness (I've got a bunch of shaped blocks forced into categories, and I have to dig into each group of blocks to find the one I want). Can't even simply move the taskbar where I WANT it anymore, either. The selling point of PC over Mac has been the ability to use your computer like an adult and customize it how you like it. Way to shoot yourself in the foot, Microsoft.- Jim_T1405Iron ContributorI totally agree with this post, but want to point out that NOT COMBINING taskbar buttons was NOT a feature. It was the default. The ability to combine the buttons is the "feature". Microsoft should have looked at their own data to see that power users DO NOT COMBINE.
- stuartgfCopper ContributorThat's such a good way of framing it - quite right.
- ekalchevBrass ContributorMicrosoft, at least give us an answer if you are going to fix that so ppl like me can choose to buy alternative 3rd party solution without worrying that the fix can be released in the future and we'll waste our money. I don't want to spend money on this just for learn that you are releasing a fix.

When is this issue going to be fixed by Microsoft?!! I've been struggling with navigating my windows in Windows 11 for months now and am still not able to with ease and efficiency. Now, I am missing meeting reminders in Outlook because the stupid window isn't opening and remains minimized on my taskbar. Stop the insanity and FIX THIS!!!

I dont think they even read this. Some super smart forward thinking product manager at Microsoft already collected his bonus for the cost savings realized by not porting the functionality.
- schneidaCopper ContributorWhen I found out that they removed the setting, I just thought it was a joke. Now I need to pay to get a third party developer to fix this - see https://www.startallback.com/

schneida you can use this -> https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher for free. Does a lot of stuff with windows 11 customisation and works fine.

RaghuKeenLearner Unfortunately I am using a machine that is managed by my employer, so I can’t install non admin approved tools and modifications.

I wonder why this product is not in the Microsoft Store?
Why didn't Microsoft hire these developers?
Maybe someone will answer?
- drdougIron ContributorAt least it is only $5 per PC
- Kipp-IBSBrass ContributorI'm testing Windows 11 from a usability standpoint for my company. We will not be moving to W11 until this feature is added back. I am not going to go through all the necessary security reviews to install a 3rd party tool or registry hack necessary to get back the "never group" functionality. There is no logical reason to remove this feature.
- WillySkjIron ContributorSame here, win10 works fine and win11 is like non existing without this feature.
New hw must be delivered with win10.
- RaghuKeenLearnerBrass ContributorPlease bring taskbar feature from windows 10 to windows 11 and I will never curse you again. This is very frustrating and annoying thing to experience daily. BC listen.
- PeterChikCopper ContributorI shall come back after another 2 years
- hackerpro536Copper ContributorPlease bring this back.
