How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
- The November 2023 update added “never combined” mode on the taskbar for Windows 11. To find this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors. Set Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels to Never. It also added a separate setting for turning this feature on for other taskbars when you use multiple monitors.

- CassRTIron ContributorI keep checking this thread to see if anyone has seen a Windows 11 update with the "never combine taskbar buttons." Apparently not. Does anyone from Microsoft LOOK at these comments? Anyway, I installed Win11 last Fall. Immediately deleted it when I discovered this "feature." Hopefully, I won't have to purchase a new computer in the near future.
- romanzzzqwCopper ContributorI'm shopping for a Surface Pro 8 device now, and I can't purchase it because it comes with Win11, which broke the taskbar by forcing this forced-button-combine brain fart of someone in their UX team.
- stuartgfCopper ContributorAnother vote/request/begging letter for "never combine taskbar buttons" to be reinstated. Multitasking is so painful without it. And pop-up windows like Outlook's reminder doesn't get a fully-fledged, separate taskbar icon, which means notifications are easily missed (and they have been).
- NormCBrass ContributorI have been using Windows 11 now for 4 months and thought I would get use to the grouping of icons on the taskbar, but no, the grouping of icons on the taskbar is extremely annoying. Microsoft should reevaluate the human factor of the OS. Whoever decided to remove the switch to never combine taskbar buttons should be moved to a janitorial position. I upgraded from Windows 7, I should have gone to Windows 10.
- halkilmerCopper ContributorMicrosoft - this is really bad. Please bring back the "Never Combine Taskbar Buttons." As Windows 11 now stands, multitasking and navigating between apps and folders sucks.
- AlanBoisvertBrass ContributorCorrection: Multitasking and navigating between apps and folders is nearly impossible.

This is very sad that Microsoft makes decisions on features without providing the option to revert back for people that want to not combine apps. This is why Microsoft gets a bad rap and warranted so.
- TeaWrecksBrass ContributorAdding my voice to the people who hate this new 'feature'. I've been on Win11 for a week with a new work laptop and it's slowing me down so much. I need 3 Outlook boxes open and now I can't tell which has an email, but if I leave them open there's no header to tell me which one I'm currently in. I'm also missing calendar pop-ups since they're combining with Outlook so I can't tell if I have a meeting, and I can't drag-and-drop the PDFs I work with all day unless I keep my windows smaller than full sized and offset the email I'm dragging it to. Since it's a work computer I can't even add a 3rd party app to fix it. At least now I know not to upgrade on my personal laptop. Looks like Win11 is going to be this generation's WinME.
- kavahoxIron ContributorTotally. More like LoseME:-)

I also cannot believe MS are not improving this. Are they working with their own OS? This is a reason why we are trying to stay with Win 10 as long as possible.
- ilhanertanCopper ContributorYou just summarized all my troubles with Win11, my friend. Thank you 👏
- u2giantsCopper ContributorPernille-Eskebo get rid of this **bleep** combining buttons. Do some UI research in the future before breaking thigs,

This is something that have to be fixed. Major flaw in W11... huali1405
- AlanBoisvertBrass ContributorYou can't fix something that ain't broke. Microsoft doesn't consider this a bug. Sadly, it's working as designed.

Shame on them!. Do they really use the OS they sell? I mean, this is a feature you miss in the first ten minutes of Windows use. Really cannot believe they use Windows 11 for productivity tasks...
