How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
- The November 2023 update added “never combined” mode on the taskbar for Windows 11. To find this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors. Set Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels to Never. It also added a separate setting for turning this feature on for other taskbars when you use multiple monitors.

- KaitlinOCopper ContributorAnother vote for adding the "never combine taskbar buttons" option in windows 11 - I want to uninstall and use windows 10
- DeletedYou can use those 3rd party stuff to get it back until they add it back, no need to fresh install 10 and remove everything
- Rich5555Iron Contributor300 replies to this? I would have expected more of an outcry for the return of such an important feature (to me anyway) Maybe we're in the minority and its not important to most users?
- VishmayBrass ContributorMajority of people doesn't puts effort to configure a productive environment!
- tlhintoqIron Contributor95% of the users are saying to themselves "This f**ing sucks" but aren't tech aware enough to get on TechCommunity.Microsoft.com - let's be honest, the baseline user just isn't savvy enough or not going to invest the time to go search out where/how to lodge the complaint.

Be sure to like it and add a comment to let Microsoft know how paramount it is to bring this vital feature back!- VishmayBrass Contributordone!
- DeletedI get why everyone is wanting this though how do you all have a nice taskbar without overlapping apps? I have like 21 apps on the taskbar, yes I do like the 3rd party launchers for taskbar, it makes it nice too 🙂
- tlhintoqIron ContributorHave you considered using the virtual desktops? Pretty nice to have 5 or so desktops... #1 is all your communication stuff like email, social media etc. #2 is office stuff, #3 is the CAD work... or whatever works for your situation.
You save SO MUCH TIME, not hiding and opening apps.. not bringing background apps to the foreground, not minimizing anything. Just slide from desktop 1 to desktop2 when you change tasks.

If I wanted this "simplicity" I would buy a Mac; it is seriously dumb to have buttons that you don't know what they are.
If you have 6 open excel files you will have to add another step to roll over it to see what's open and then select the right one, it is soooooooooooo unproductive.
- DeletedI agree with you, I gotten used to it, I love the big new icons and startmenu, the spotlight feature is pretty nice 🙂 Maybe this is what they gone with since that is what the R&D team decided on.

huali1405Please re-enable the option to never combine the taskbar labels and also the ability to drag and drop.
- DeepeshAravindCopper ContributorAfter installing startisback, i started facing many weird issues with Windows:
1. Unable to change default settings of Notepad
2. MyAsus app stops working - DeletedYou could try Startisback, that will bring you the options to put taskbar small, top/right/left/bottom also change startmenu 🙂 Also will bring back the never combine taskbar labels 🙂 It has a free trial but I think ti is worth it 🙂
- cili7Copper Contributorpay to fix a problem introduced in Win11 that wasn't a problem in Win10?
You are joking right?
- avidichardCopper ContributorJust adding my contribution to the need of uncombined Taskbar. I want that back too!!
I will also add that in Windows 7, I always used a registry tweak to resize the taskbar tasks to only see the icons. So I had a NEVER combine tasks and DO NOT SHOW titles. This was the perfection of my taskbar. No combersome large titles tasks, none combined and easy to access instead of this VERY dumb and inconvenient hover-wait-and-click method. I never loved that. - DeletedEveryone, please go to FeedbackHub and upvote there so engineers can see it 🙂 have a great day!

What is FeedbackHub and how do we get there? Deleted
- DeletedFeedbackHub is a app on your Windows 10 or 11 PC/Tablet/Computer which allows you to report bugs or suggest features on Windows. You may also use the search option in the app to find feature/suggestions other have posted. You can also upvote on those posts as well.
All you need to do is search "feedbackhub" in Windows Search or install it from the MIcrosoft Store 🙂

- Are you implying that the engineers aren't aware of the posts here? Like here in the Microsoft site for this stuff?
- Got a link for this issue in FeedbackHub?
- DeletedYes, you can suggest features here but this is a general discussion area for helping others with issues or so on. Best way to suggest is through FeedbackHub app, 🙂 That is where all teh engineers are at,
- jeremy1100Copper ContributorOne more vote for adding the "never combine taskbar buttons" option in windows 11
- bchaseski6Copper ContributorAdding a vote. This feature will prevent me from upgrading. It's a huge productivity loss.
- SleepyOrcaCopper ContributorJust adding one more voice to the crowd. This was such an unproductive move - please bring back this much needed feature.
