How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
- The November 2023 update added “never combined” mode on the taskbar for Windows 11. To find this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors. Set Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels to Never. It also added a separate setting for turning this feature on for other taskbars when you use multiple monitors.

huali1405 Just saying that I also miss the "never combine taskbar buttons". I hope MS fix this asap.
- AdrianGee44Copper ContributorI can't work this way and roll backed straight away. It really frustrates me that a company like this thinks they know better than you. Would it have really been a big deal to leave that feature in? I have a ultra wide monitor and not being able to fill up my task bar how I want drives me nuts. Let me the user choose how I want my setup. Not MS. Yes I know there are many work arouns but I can't be bothered.
- D4nib04Copper ContributorIf I'd have known that this feature was not available in windows 11 I would have never have "upgraded". This is a down grade not an upgrade and needs to be fixed as soon as possible for productivity! If it isn't scheduled soon I'll be going back to windows 10.
- Deletedhttps://www.startallback.com/ work and brings back the labels, also allow you to customize startmenu and can move taskbar to top.
- indigo73Copper ContributorI reverted back to Windows 10 because this was so frustrating.
- Boggle868Copper ContributorUnbelievable! How am I supposed to work between the three excel sheets I have? Five months people have been asking for this and it hasn't been fixed. I am uninstalling Windows 11 until this is returned. Stupid, stupid idea.
- DeletedHi Everyone,
Did find these open-source programs on Github that bring back the labels on taskbar 🙂

Did you read any of the posts where we say that explorer patcher is garbage?
- CougieBrass ContributorNobody begged for taskbar items to be combined in the first place. I'm still salty that it was introduced and made default since Windows 7. I've been setting it back to never combine ever since.

Exactly the same! I never liked this change either when I upgraded to Win 7 but didn't complain because I could change it back. But now it's a different story...
Small buttons are also annoying because it's harder to quickly press them, it's easier to click wider targets. - santonkixCopper Contributor
Come on Microsoft, that is so unproductive.
Due to job assignments I have many windows opened, how come I can handle all of them ?
I switch back and forth trying to find the correct session, that was a disaster.
Bring back never combine option.
- tlhintoqIron ContributorSeems every 3rd post of the last couple days has been a reminder to just load the Explorer Patcher and you get this feature back.
I guess nobody can be bothered to read the thread they joined.

Please, add this function back. Why you had to remove it in the first place?
For me, this is a very a central UI feature and not having this feature makes the usage of Windows 11 very annoying. Sadly, I'll have to revert back Windows 10 to get this important basic feature back. - GoManChampCopper ContributorPlease add this feature asap.
- demeritcowboyCopper ContributorMe too. Please bring back never-combine.
