How can I batch convert HEIC to JPG without losing quality?
Hello, I recently encountered a problem and hope to get your help. I have a bunch of HEIC format photos that need to be converted to JPEG format, and the operating system is Windows 11. I hope to maintain the original image quality as much as possible during the conversion process, and because there are a lot of photos, I hope to find a way to batch convert HEIC to JPG without losing quality. I have tried some online tools and software before, but I always feel that the quality of the converted pictures has declined, or the operation is not convenient enough.
Does anyone know any good method to solve my problem? Thank you very much for your help!

Hi everyone,
I had the same problem many people mention here:
a large number of HEIC photos from an iPhone, and I needed to batch convert them to JPG on Windows, without quality loss and without installing extra software.
After trying a few approaches, this is the workflow that worked best for me.
What I was looking for
- Batch HEIC → JPG conversion
- No noticeable quality loss
- Easy sharing after conversion
- Works well with iPhone photos
What I’m usingThis online tool ended up being the most practical for my case:
https://iphonetoandroid.com/
How the batch conversion works (very simple)
- Open the site in your browser
- Upload a couple of photos to test
- When you want to convert more, log in with your Google (Gmail) account
- The tool connects to Google Drive, so all converted JPGs are saved there automatically
- From Drive, you can instantly share, download, or move the files anywhere you need
No manual downloading one-by-one — everything ends up neatly saved in Drive.
Why this setup worked well for me
Google login makes the process fast and familiar
Converted files are stored directly in Google Drive
Easy batch processing
JPG quality stays the same (resolution and clarity are preserved in my tests)
Works well if you’re moving photos from iPhone to Windows or Android
If you’re dealing with lots of HEIC images and want a quick, no-friction way to batch convert and share them, this approach is worth trying.
Hope this helps someone else here 👍

I have encountered the same problem before and tried several tools. In the end, I still think TuneBro HEIC Converter is the best. It not only supports batch conversion, but also maintains the image quality very well.
I followed this tutorial (works for me)

The operation is also very simple. You can get a lot of photos in a few minutes. The online tools I tried before all felt that the image quality was lost, but this one has no problem. If you also want to maintain the quality, I highly recommend trying it!

Google Photos does a decent job with conversions, but it's not as customizable as dedicated software, you might feel a bit limited when you converting HEIC photos to JPG. I've noticed that sometimes the colors or sharpness can be slightly different from the original, which can be annoying if you're a stickler for details.
And then there's the storage situation. Google Photos offers a certain amount of free storage, but if you're working with a lot of photos, you might quickly hit that limit. Then you'll either have to pay for a storage plan or start deleting things, and nobody wants to do that, right? Plus, when you're downloading JPEGs, they can take up extra space on your device, especially if you’re pulling down a ton at once. - BlakeYioCopper ContributorOverall, while using Paint for batch conversion is simple and it's in the built-in tools, if you're looking for quality or speed, you might want to check out dedicated software or apps that specialize in this. For you to convert HEIC to JPG on Windows computer, they can usually offer better quality control and faster conversions with less fuss.

Holaway Microsoft has an add-in called HEIC Image Extension, which you can download from Microsoft. Once it is installed on Windows 11 or Windows 10 PC, then you can view the HEIC images and convert them to JPG or JPEG since then.
- Locate the HEIC file you want to convert in File Explorer and double-click on it. It should now open in the Photos app or another default image viewer that supports HEIC.
- If the image opens in the Photos app, click on the "..." (three dots) in the upper right corner and select Save As.
- In the "Save As" dialog, choose JPG from the file type dropdown, and select the location where you want to save the converted image.
- Click Save to convert and store the image as a JPG.
This will convert the HEIC file to JPG on any Windows PC using the HEIF Image Extension.

$0.99 and 30 minutes later...appears this strips all date (and other EXIF?) information from the original.
- EloisenupBrass ContributorPaint isn't really designed for heavy-duty image processing, and while it can convert files, it can be a bit slow, especially with large batches. If you're going to batch convert HEIC to JPG, you might find it takes a while to process them all, which can be a drag if you're in a hurry.
While Paint does a decent job, it can sometimes compress images more than you'd like. JPG is a lossy format, meaning every time you save as JPG, there's a chance of losing some quality compared to the original HEIC. If you’re super picky about image quality (like if you’re a photographer or just someone who really loves their pics), you might notice some degradation in details, especially if you’re converting files with a lot of intricate colors or shadows. - AlexTaylorCopper Contributor
I often use Google Photos to manage my photos, especially when I need to convert photos from HEIC to JPG format without losing quality on Windows 11. This method is not only simple, but because Google Photos is cloud-based, I can access my photos anytime, anywhere.
Here's how it works:
1. Upload photos: I start by uploading my HEIC photos to my Google Photos account. This step is simple, just open Google Photos on your phone or computer and select Upload.
2. Download as JPEG: After uploading, when I need these photos, I just log in to Google Photos on my computer, find the photos and download them. During the download process, Google Photos automatically offers the option to save HEIC photos as JPEG.
One of the great things about using Google Photos is that it's not just a conversion tool, but also a powerful photo management and backup solution. I don't need to worry about losing photos due to device loss or damage. At the same time, it also provides some basic editing functions, which is very convenient when I need to quickly adjust photos.

I do not see this as an option. Everything just downloads as a .zip and when opened HEIC files are present. Even when downloading individual files it only gives HEIC as a format option.

I often need to bulk convert HEIC photos to JPG format when using my iPhone. I found a simple trick to send the photos to myself directly by email. This method is super convenient and does not require installing any additional software.
It is also very straightforward to use: I just need to select the HEIC photos I want to convert in the album, then click the share button like sharing anything, and select the email app. In the email writing interface, after I add the photos, the iPhone will automatically prompt me if I want to convert HEIC to JPEG format and send them. I choose "yes", set the email address to my own, and send it. Not long after, the email arrived in my inbox, and when I opened it, I saw that the photos were already in JPEG format.
The advantage of this method is that it is simple to operate, and there is no need to worry about the quality of the pictures, because the quality is basically the same during the conversion process. Of course, this method is more suitable for converting a few pictures occasionally. If it is hundreds or thousands of HEIC pictures, you may need to consider other more automated batch processing methods.

Holaway Windows 11 has a built-in HEIC image viewer and converter called "Paint" that can be used for batch convert HEIC to JPG. Always check the original HEIC files before converting them to ensure they're not corrupted or damaged. Be mindful of the file size and storage space when converting multiple files at once. Consider converting a small batch of files first to test the quality and accuracy of the conversion method before processing all your files.

The free converter is slow and does not support batch conversion!

this is not great, you have to pay $15 to convert files that Apple have decided to force apple users to use by default without providing a conversion tool. i will not be forced to pay for this. use Irfan view its free and does the same thing.
