Brightness not working after latest update
Dear Windows 11 Team,
I am writing to report an issue that I have encountered after the latest Windows 11 Insider Program update. Specifically, I have noticed that the brightness controls on my device are not working properly. Despite my attempts to adjust the brightness settings, the screen remains at a constant level of brightness.
Please let me know if there is any additional information or diagnostic reports that I can provide to help diagnose and fix this issue. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Best regards

If you're on windows, try F6 up, F5 down, or Fn + F6, Fn +F5
- Garvish_AgrawalCopper Contributormicrosoft im facing the same issue and its been a long time nothing has happened till now. brightness doesn't change at the moment but it changes after restarting and this is a big problem so do something

no need to worry for now, just undo or uninstall or rollback to the previous version and it would work best for you. Another option is to wait for a patch to be released, averagely in the middle of month (patch Tuesday). In all, you'll be well. ThanksGarvish_Agrawal

My problem was solved some time ago after an update. But since the latest developer update, my music notation software "Finale" closes down right after the start. So now I'm using my previous laptop with Windows 10. I'm glad I didn't sell it.

Was facing the same issue. I disabled and enabled a Graphics driver in the device manager and that fixed it:
1. Go to control panel > Device manager> Display adapters > Right click and disable
2. The screen goes blank for a second and then comes back again.
3. Repeat the same and enable it.
Hope this helps

OMG u are AMAZING, my brightness hasn't been working and wasn't showing up at all for almost a year and I tried almost everything online, but I decided to try again and thank god i came across your reply cuz its finally working again!!!
- JBoholCopper ContributorSuccess! Odd how I did that multiple times before but now it suddenly works. I guess with the new update, Microsoft finally addressed the issue.
- JBoholCopper ContributorIt's November and I've tried everything suggested here and nothing worked. I have a year old Dell Inspiron 7710 AIO and now I feel that it's ruined. My eyes are killing me at night because the screen is too bright.

I faced the same issue where my brightness was stuck on 31% and wasn't changing
I tried many things, like updating updating the "intel UHD graphics" display adapter, and it wasn't fixed
but then I installed Microsoft basic display driver, and then restarted my pc. then updated the "Microsoft basic display driver" and reinstalled "intel UHD graphics" and then the problem was fixed. - CountryComboCopper Contributor
25931 solved.

I have just faced the same exact problem a few minutes earlier andstill have it....i tried reinstalling the graphics drivers but no use, and my built is 25921.rs_prerelease.230728-1521
thank you- pudidi7926Copper Contributorbro, i have problem like you, but my windows build is 25926, i tried disable driver till uninstall and reinstall again, but there's not any change, looks like from driver or windows system which corrupt while installed
- Jesse330Copper ContributorUpdate Graphics Driver: Go to Device Manager, find the Display Adapter, right-click on it and select Update Driver. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the latest graphics driver. Or reinstall Graphics Driver: If updating the graphics driver doesn't work, try uninstalling the graphics driver and then reinstalling it.
- _cappuccinosCopper ContributorThe thing with reinstalling the driver is that it reverts to old behavior after 2, maybe 3 reboots, and then one has to reinstall the driver again...

It is now July 24th and this is still an issue I have been having this issue since switching to the canary option for the windows insider preview program, I find it ridiculous how the program is intended to help identify and SOLVE problems is holding up to that end and we can argue how it was stipulated that the canary option might see some issue and whatever I find it appalling however that we have identified an issue so long ago and its discussed on their platforms and no fix up to this day the ability to turn up and down the brightness of you screen is crucial for laptop users especially when the brightness is stuck at either end of the spectrum, is this the only option we have to make complaints, is there no way to elevate these type of errors even further?

I recently updated to windows 11 on a dell laptop and also have this issue. Crazy it has persisted this long. I will try the insider program dev lane.

@whelp. no luck for me. insider dev, up to date and still cannot change the brightness.
- CountryComboCopper ContributorIn the last version 25905 canary channel, this issue still exists.
- Rowy101Copper ContributorI have the dev version, switching to preview. The brightness issue has been solved in the dev version and I guess the preview will be ok.

The dev channel 23xxx is ok, only canary channel 25xxx causes this issue.
I have a temporary solution.
First, disable the display adapter.
Then, enable it.
Now the brightness issue is disappeared.
