Windows Laptop randomly changes display resolution after reboot
My Windows laptop keeps resetting its display resolution to a lower setting every time I reboot, even though I set it back to the correct one. The screen becomes distorted and icons get rearranged, requiring me to manually change the resolution again each time after restart.

Your laptop loads a lower resolution after each restart, suggesting Windows is not retaining the panel’s native mode or the graphics driver is failing during startup. In Settings > System > Display, select the panel, choose the resolution marked Recommended, and verify scale and refresh rate under Advanced display. Install Windows updates, including display drivers, then restart. In Device Manager, open the display adapter’s Properties > Driver and note its provider and version. If this began after a driver update, use Roll Back Driver; otherwise reinstall the graphics package for the laptop model. Remove any dock or external display, because saved multi-monitor modes can select another resolution. Check Device Manager after a bad reboot: if Microsoft Basic Display Adapter appears, the vendor driver did not load. If native resolution remains missing with the manufacturer driver, update the laptop firmware and run its display diagnostics; persistent failure needs manufacturer support.
