Windows freezes when I first open or click on anything after startup
I have experienced similar with my laptop. Maybe you should try the following steps:
1. Check Startup apps, open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), go to Startup tab and disable anything that doesn’t need to load at boot
2. Check your Storage space, go to Settings → System → Storage. If your drive is nearly full, this kind of freezing may happen
3. Check your Drive health, open Command Prompt as admin and run: (wmic diskdrive get status) without the bracket and if it doesn’t say OK, then your drive may be the problem
4. Check your Display drivers, check Device Manager for any pending display driver updates, black screen freezes are sometimes driver related
If the standard repair tool already failed, a fresh Windows repair install might be the next step.
What’s your storage looking like and is CPU or disk usage maxing out when it loads up?
