Windows asks for Credentials after domain login

I don't know why, but I log into a Windows Active Directory domain.  Group policy and drive mappings all apply correctly.   Yet every 30 minutes or so a dialog box appears at the bottom of my screen: Windows Credentials needed.   Please lock the screen and supply your password.  I am writing it from memory but I how do I make this stop?  Thanks.
