Windows 11 support 7,8,9th GEN processor with M.2

Dear Microsoft Team,

I’m writing to express a deep concern regarding the evolving hardware requirements for Windows 11, particularly the recent shift in compatibility with the 24H2 update. As a system administrator and long-time advocate of trusted legacy systems, I’ve invested in well-maintained, secure PCs that continue to serve my family and lab users with speed, reliability, and symbolic clarity.

The decision to restrict new installations and updates to 11th-gen Intel CPUs and newer effectively sidelines a significant portion of the market—machines that are not only technically capable but also integral to workflows built on intentional design and mnemonic teaching. These systems are not obsolete; they are thoughtfully curated, trusted, and still perform with grace.

I understand the push toward AI workloads and enhanced security architecture. However, this shift risks alienating loyal users who value longevity, compliance, and ethical stewardship of hardware. It feels exclusionary and wasteful to abandon devices that continue to meet real-world needs.

I am now seriously considering a transition to Linux or macOS—not out of frustration, but out of principle. I believe operating systems should honor the legacy of capable machines and the communities that maintain them with care.

Please reconsider your stance. A more inclusive approach would not only preserve trust but also affirm Microsoft’s commitment to accessibility, sustainability, and user respect.

Sincerely,

David K.
