Windows 11: screen turns off too often
- Mar 19, 2024
If your computer screen is turning off too quickly while you are working, it could be related to power settings or screen saver settings on your computer. Here are some steps you can try to adjust those settings and prevent your screen from turning off too frequently:
1.Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box. Type "control" in the box and press Enter to open the Control Panel.
2. Click on "Power Options".
3. Under "Select a power plan", click on "Change plan settings" for the current plan you are using.
4. Next, click on "Change advanced power settings".
5. In the "Power Options" window, scroll down to "Display" and expand it.
6. Look for "Turn off display after" and click on the "minutes" drop-down box. Try setting this to a longer period of time, such as 10 or 15 minutes.
7. Also check that "Dim the display" is set to "Never".
8. Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save your changes.

I tried all except "Dim and Display" which wasn't there.
I seem to have tried everything without success. I have a new W11 system with my old display which never had a problem before. I enterred the Control Panel via the System but surely this wouldn't change anything? My display is fine for one minute, then the info disappears. The lock screen remains. HELP!! It's so annoying when handling bank statements etc.

None of this works. My "sleep" and "power off' setting are set to NEVER everywhere I can find. My screen dims after 1 min even while watching an on-line video (you tube) or a Streaming movie. It drives me crazy.
I need my screen to stay on FOREVER because I do a lot of voice dictation where it cannot turn off!!!
Any ideas?
