Win11 and Outlook New Mail Notifications

There is a general bug / problem / issue (call it what you will) on Windows 11 where new email notification alerts chime CANNOT be changed.

 

There are several threads / forums / posts on Twitter + Reddit with many folks highlighting this lacking issue.

 

Can Microsoft please fix this issue. I work in a high email organisation and require a sound notification - however, the default horrid chime is so irritating, especially when constantly on Zoom/Teams calls throughout the day. I cannot stress how annoying the consistent sound chime is!

    This is a known limitation in Windows 11 when using Outlook with desktop notifications, the chime is tied to the windows "New Mail notification" system sound and cannot be customized per app through outlook settings. 

    You can change the windows new mail notification sound globally or disable default chime & use outlook rules for custom sounds.

    Hopefully, Microsoft listens to this soon enough and provides an option to change or disable the default notification sound without affecting other system alerts.
