Why my pc not receiving Windows 11 25H2 update?

My wife's laptop was successfully updated to Windows 11 25H2 two weeks ago but my PC still does not receive Windows 11 25H2 update. Currently, it runs Windows 11 23H2 and the hardware specs are quite decent, including an Intel i7 processor, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD.

Does anyone know the reason why my pc not receiving Windows 11 24H2 update yet? What can I do to do this problem?

Thank you

Please run Windows 11 Update Troubleshooter to check what is the problem here if the PC does not receive Windows 11 25H2 update.

If your PC is in Europe and not receiving the Windows 11 25H2 update, the steps to troubleshoot are generally the same as for any location. However, certain regional rollout strategies or specific issues might cause delays.

Not receiving windows 11 update 25h2, What to do next?

    1. Download the Windows 11 ISO
    2. Mount the ISO File
Locate the downloaded ISO file in File Explorer.
Right-click the ISO file and select Mount.
A new virtual drive will appear in This PC.
    3. Run the Setup for In-Place Upgrade
      Open the mounted drive.
      Double-click setup.exe.
When prompted, choose Yes to allow the app to make changes.
The Windows 11 setup will launch.
    4. Follow the On-Screen Instructions
      Choose Upgrade this PC now.
Keep your files and apps if prompted.
Click Install to begin the upgrade process.
    5. Complete the Installation
Your PC will restart multiple times.
      Follow any additional prompts.
After completion, your PC should be upgraded to Windows 11 25H2.

If you're not receiving the Windows 11 25H2 update, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

    1. Verify that your PC meets all the hardware requirements for Windows 11 25H2.
    2. Use the PC Health Check tool or Microsoft's PC Health Check app to confirm compatibility.
    3. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
    4. Select Windows Update and run the troubleshooter.
    5. Open Command Prompt as administrator.
    Run the following commands:

    net stop wuauserv
    net stop bits

Navigate to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution and delete its contents.
    Restart the services:

    net start wuauserv
    net start bits

    Check for updates again.

If your device is compatible but still not updating or not receiving windows 11 update 25h2, it might be due to phased rollout or other issues. You can wait for the update to become available or consider a clean installation. If your hardware is unsupported or if you've modified your system, some updates might be blocked or not offered. Also, always back up your data before attempting major updates or clean installs.

What your wife likely received is Windows 11 24H2 (released in October 2024), not 25H2. The "25H2" version won't be released until late 2025.

Not receiving windows 11 update 25h2, Why?
    Hardware-Specific Considerations

    • Even though your specs are decent, Microsoft's compatibility checks might flag:
    • Specific i7 generation: Older i7 processors (6th-8th gen) get updates later
    • Driver compatibility: Your specific chipset/GPU drivers might need updates first
    • BIOS settings: TPM/Secure Boot configuration differences

How to Get Windows 11 24H2 Now use Windows 11 Installation Assistant

    1. Visit Microsoft's Windows 11 download page
    2. Download "Windows 11 Installation Assistant"
    3. Run it as Administrator
    4. It will directly upgrade you to 24H2

Not receiving windows 11 update 25h2! There are several common reasons why your PC might not be receiving the Windows 11 25H2 update even though your wife's laptop has already been updated.

    1. Device Compatibility and Hardware Checks:
Although your hardware specs are sufficient, certain hardware components or drivers might cause the update to be deferred.
    2. Windows Update Settings:
Your update settings might be configured to defer feature updates or might be set to receive updates differently.
    3. Pending Updates or Compatibility Issues:
Pending updates or compatibility issues with specific applications or drivers could block the upgrade.
    4. Update Delivery Optimization or Network Issues:
Network problems or update delivery optimization settings could delay the update.

    What You Can Do:

    • Use the Windows 11 Update Assistant:
Microsoft provides an Update Assistant tool that forces the update. Download it from the official Microsoft website and run it to upgrade.
    • Use the Media Creation Tool:
This tool creates a bootable USB or ISO to upgrade your system. It often bypasses some rollout delays.
    • Ensure Your System Meets All Requirements:
Double-check your PC complies with all hardware and firmware requirements for 25H2.

The PC will receive feature and security updates even if you installed Windows 11 on an unsupported PC. However, version update such as 24H2 to 25H2 is not available.

Despite the official warnings, in practice, many users who installed Windows 11 on slightly older, unsupported PCs have observed the following:

Security and Cumulative Updates: Devices often continue to receive the regular monthly security and cumulative updates via Windows Update without issue. These are the important, smaller patches.

Feature Updates: Major annual feature updates (like the shift from one version, e.g., 25H2, to the next, 24H2) are often blocked by the system requirements check. This means you have to manually trick the Windows 11 upgrade assisistant if the pc is not receiving Windows 11 update 25H2.

To fix this, users typically have to manually re-bypass the hardware checks using similar methods to the initial installation (e.g., using a modified ISO or a registry tweak for an in-place upgrade).
