Why does Yahoo keep opening in Chrome Windows 11 computer?

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing a frustrating issue with my Windows 11 computer. For some reason, Yahoo keeps opening automatically in Google Chrome, even when I’m not trying to access it. This happens frequently and interrupts my workflow.

I've checked my browser settings and extensions, but I can't find anything unusual. I’ve also cleared my browser cache and cookies, but the problem persists.

Has anyone else faced a similar issue or knows how to stop this from happening? Thank you!

Sometimes, users accidentally set Yahoo as their homepage without realizing it. This can happen if you select it during a software installation or if you were just not paying attention to the settings.

In Chrome, click on the three dots in the top right and then select More tools > Extensions. Review the installed extensions. If you see something suspicious or that you don’t remember installing, disable or remove it.

You might have set Yahoo as your default search engine. Check your Chrome settings to see if it’s set as the homepage or default search engine:

    • Open Chrome, click on the three dots (more) in the upper right corner, select Settings.
    • Go to Search engine, then Manage search engines and site search. Ensure Yahoo isn’t set as the default.

Go to Chrome settings > On startup, select "Open the New Tab page" or remove any suspicious URLs listed under "Open a specific page or set of pages."

Try to clear the cookies and browser data and see if yahoo site opens automatically in future.

I won't recommend using Yahoo mail anymore. I have one account with recovery phone number but it asks me using whatsapp to receive the security code, which is rediculous as I don't use whatsapp!
