Microsoft no longer offers a free Windows 11 upgrade assistant app. The free upgrade period ended. While you might find some unofficial tools online, they are not guaranteed to be safe or reliable.
Your PC's specs are a bit of a problem for a smooth Windows 11 experience. While Windows 11 can run on older hardware, the following are significant roadblocks:
- DDR3 RAM: Windows 11 requires DDR4 RAM. You have DDR3, so upgrading your RAM is crucial. This is a significant expense.
- Intel HD Graphics 4600: This is a very old and weak graphics card. Windows 11 will probably run, but performance will be severely limited, especially in resource-intensive tasks. Consider that this card is likely the bottleneck.
- CPU (Intel i7-4790): While this is an i7, it's from 2014. Windows 11 will run, but performance will be slower than modern systems.
Upgrading to Windows 11 via Windows 11 upgrade assistant will likely result in a noticeably slower and less responsive experience. You might get by, but you could be severely limited in what you can do on the computer.
