UAC crash when submitting

Hello,

We have a fleet of Windows 10 PCs.

We are upgrading to Windows 11 and we realized along the way that all PCs running Windows 11 have a common issue: UAC crashes when credentials are submitted or even when you just want to close UAC.

I disabled secure desktop to see what was going on, and it turns out that UAC is going into “Not Responding” mode.

I tried reading the logs, but nothing useful came out of it except to tell me that it crashed. I tried another network, but there was no improvement. I disabled all Intune configuration profiles, but it was still the same. I installed all the updates available in Windows Update, but it was still the same. I checked the integrity of the OS, but it was still the same.

I'm really stuck. Could you please help me?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

  • It looks like some software is conflicting and contributing to this issue.

I recommend you to perform clean boot:

Eliminate the conflicting software using clean boot and this can help you to resolve the issue.

So the problem must indeed be caused by a service. What is extremely strange is that I disabled all non-Microsoft services, and the problem disappeared. BUT, when I reactivated the various services, the problem did not return...
So it is impossible to determine which service is causing the problem with this method.

It sounds like you're encountering a persistent issue with User Account Control (UAC) on Windows 11, where it crashes or becomes unresponsive during credential prompts or when closing UAC prompts. Since you've already tried several troubleshooting steps—disabling secure desktop, checking logs, testing on different networks, disabling Intune profiles, updating Windows, and verifying OS integrity.

Temporarily disable all non-Microsoft services and startup programs to see if a third-party app is causing the issue.
