PC - tried moving music folder from C to D - Windows messed it up
As stated - right clicked music folder - location - move - chose D drive
Now it has renamed music folder to D:\ (essentially renamed the entire D drive to be the Music folder) and put all the contents of D drive INSIDE the music folder (like seriously who designed this procedure over at Windows?)
And now, when I chose to "Restore Default" it says "Failed to build the list of regular sub-directories under "D:\System Volume Information". Access Denied"

When you moved the Music folder and typed just D:\ instead of D:\Music, Windows interpreted that as a command to set the entire D: drive as your Music folder . The folder then inherits the Music folder's icon and properties, making it look like your whole drive was "renamed"—even though the actual data is still there, just now technically inside the Music folder that points to the drive root.
