October 2026 Windows Update causing major issues

I haven't been able to identify a single root cause, but we've had success getting devices patched by going through Windows Update settings and making sure that all driver and firmware updates are installed, along the monthly Windows Updates. For our Dell 16 Pros, a repeated firmware update is 2.18.1.0
We also have Dells 5500 and those seem to need firmware 1.26 or 1.27.
I don't know if this is the cause, but it's the only consistent correlation that I've been able to identify.
In our case, the update is already seeded in most machines, just pending a reboot, so we'll have to deal with the boot failures to later patch systems.
