[2nd solution] Hello! I'm aware this is a year old but I have a similar model and faced the same issue after a new update and it not detecting external display and also solved it, thought this may be helpful to anyone coming here in future as well:
> first unplug hdmi cable off the laptop
> restart the laptop / or shut down then turn it on
> plug hdmi back to the laptop
> it should now detect the monitor
this may even work with other laptops too facing the same issue. hope this helps
