Large System-Wide Audio Delay Inside Hyper V Client
The below list explains my issue and the context. Please let me know what I can do to resolve this audio issue for my Hyper V client and please let me know if you need me to add any more details to this list. Thanks!
- When I run a Hyper V client occasionally it will build up a large system-wide audio delay for the current session which can be as bad as 8 seconds
- This audio delay is system-wide, as any sound I play - even from clicking the volume bar in the tasbar tray, which produces a beep sound - is delayed, indicating that the core audio itself is delayed (As opposed to just a video player playback audio delay that is limited to a certain application/task. That's not what I've got.)
- The Hyper V client itself is not delayed - only its sound - as mouse and keystrokes go through immediately to its applications, indicating that its video feed and overall processing is immediately responsive and in no way delayed, just its audio
- This audio delay is only present on the Hyper V client, not on the host machine
- This audio delay varies in intensity - between 2-8 seconds of delay - and appears to build up over time
- I don't know what all causes the delay to build up but I most often notice it has occurred when inside Microsoft Teams meetings on the Hyper V client that have multiple participants
- Closing the Hyper V client and re-connecting to it temporarily resets the delay until it onsets again
- The Hyper V client is running in an enhanced session
- Both audio playback & audio recording are using the "this computer" option
- The Hyper V is allocated 4 cores and 16GB of RAM and is using a dynamic disk volume.
- The host machine has an Intel i7-12650H processor and 64GB of 3200MHz DDR4 RAM.
- Both the host machine and the Hyper V client are running Windows 11 Pro

Hi JosephWaters
I experience the same problem on a Windows 10 setup. The issue origins somewhere in the RDP audio connection. There are many posts around this issue since years.
The real workaround is to not use RDP audio, but purely rely on https://kb.parallels.com/123961 USB. If you have a USB audio device you should disable RDP audio setting by selecting Play on remote computer in your enhanced session Audio Settings and expose the USB audio device directly to the VM.
