Keyboard key/charcater runaway (endless repeat) -- nearly giving up -- fix it
Since ~6 Months. I tested everything: new keyboard (same brand), updated drivers, etc. nothing works: Once every other 10-30 minutes, one of the keys runs away. Completely sporadic, completely ran...
Nothing. Works.
I have....
- Thoroughly cleaned my keyboard (short of removing every single key)
- Updated all system drivers
- Updated keyboard drivers
- Unplugged and uninstalled peripherals
- Turned off Filter Keys
- Turned off Sticky Keys
- Confirmed Accessibility features not turned on
- Confirmed problem happens in all apps and browsers, any key, at any time
- Changed the delay timer
- Changed the repeat timer
- Tried different keyboard (total of 4)
- Tested multiple USB ports
- Disabled USB Selective Suspend
- Disabled ability to turn off USB Root Hubs
- Uninstalled all HID interfaces multiple times
- Disconnected Razer camera
- Uninstalled everything Chrome based (except Edge, which MS won't allow)
- Ended and restarted cftmon.exe in Task Manager
- Rebooted endlessly
I only migrated to Win11 because Dell made me do it. Never had such problems in Win10, which is why I went back to Win10 the first time I tried Win11. If I thought a new computer would make this go away, I would buy one, but at this point, I'm not convinced. This is WAY deeper troubleshooting than most normal people have time for. More than annoying, it is wildly disruptive.
Looking for Microsoft to fix. Please do not suggest I try anything more, I'm tapped out.
