KB5077181 update causes HDMI port to fail
KB5077181 update causes HDMI port to fail. Worked prior to this 2/11/2026 update.
K have the 3 display devices: Dell 1536 Laptop Integrated Display, dual monitor duplicated on HP2301 Monitor on USB-C port. Prior to the update, the HP2311 Monitor on HDMI port worked as well. After the update, the 2311 monitor does not see an HDMI signal and goes to sleep.
I also tried the handshake reset procedure (obscure procedure found with CoPilot) which fixed a similar issue with 25H2 update, but that failed.
No configuration or driver changes. Note - monitor drivers are no longer supplied for W10 or later OS. The 2311 shows up when I selected "Show Hidden Devices".
Hesitant to try AMD graphics update, BIOS, etc., as the 2301 monitor is also still working. Last, tried to do a uninstall of this KB, but apparently not possible with this update.
Suggestions? Thanks.
Paul2: I was able to remove the KB, have paused updates for one week. In spite of that, Windows update attempted to reinstall it but failed. Also tried a different HDMI monitor - no signal. Still open to suggestions.
Problem solved. Embarrassed to admit a cable labeling issue 😒. The HDMI port and 2311 monitor was working, but the USB-C port / 2301 monitor was not. My issue was resolved using a DELL-provided hard reset.
This was a two external monitor and laptop integrated display setup.

To perform a hard reset on a Dell computer, follow these steps:
- Turn off the computer.
- Disconnect the power cable (for desktops) or disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery (for Dell laptops with removable battery).
- Disconnect all devices such as USB drives, printers, webcams, and media cards (SD/xD).
- Press and hold the power button for 15 to 20 seconds to drain the residual power.
- Connect the power cable (for desktops) or AC adapter and battery (for laptops).
- Turn on the computer.
Step 4 seems to have critical as I did many of the steps previously.

Hello, same issue here. HDMI is no more working and also I can't change the brightness of the Display, buttons are not working and from the control panel the option is locked.
I tried to uninstall the KB but I'm still facing these issues.
