Is Enabling Secure Boot Mandatory for Windows 11 Installation?

The device supports TPM 2.0 but it is not enabled. Configuring Secure Boot poses challenges as it requires completely disabling CSM compatibility mode in the BIOS. Attempting to boot in UEFI-only mode results in a black screen issue with the graphics card. Please clarify: 1. Is Secure Boot an absolute requirement for installing Windows 11? 2. How can the black screen issue with the graphics card in UEFI mode and the difficulties in configuring Secure Boot be resolved?

Secure Boot is not an absolute requirement for installing Windows 11, but it is strongly recommended and often mandatory for systems meeting the hardware requirements, especially when using features like TPM 2.0 and UEFI mode. Some installation methods may bypass this, but for full compatibility and security, enabling Secure Boot is advisable.

  • Yes, Secure Boot is a mandatory system requirement for installing Windows 11 on a supported device. According to Microsoft's official hardware requirements for Windows 11.

I have to disagree with part of that statement. Secure boot capability IS a requirement for supported devices. Having secure boot ENABLED is another story. With secure boot disabled, one can install any OS, including Windows.
