iCloud for Outlook Incorrect Username or Password
Probably overkill but as stated above, bypass each option; “Photos”, “iCloud Drive”, “Passwords and Keychain”, “Bookmarks”, “Calendars and Contacts” so that they are all marked as “Off” during the first install of iCloud.
I found that iCloud would only successfully install into a completely clean environment, i.e: no files remaining from previous iCloud installation. Therefore before attempting the install ensure that the above iCloud options have been turned off in any user accounts on the machine and that the corresponding folders e.g: C:\Users\[username]\Pictures\iCloud Photos\Photos and C:\Users\[username]\iCloud Drive have been deleted. Check that any iCloud software from earlier attempts has been completely uninstalled. Any iCloud folders shown in the path %programdata% should also be deleted.
After the above “clean” install has completed successfully and iCloud is not repeatedly prompting for password then all the above options can be activated one by one, starting with “Passwords and Keychain”.
This may not help everyone, but it worked for me. I was having the same error message, after doing a clean Windows 11 installation for a new SSD drive. I tried the clean install route above for the iCloud for Windows app, but I was still getting the error. Then I noticed in the Account Details area in the app my apple ID was listed entirely in no-caps. However, when I initially logged into the app, I followed my habit of typing the first letters of words in my ID with capital letters. So, I signed out of the Apple Account in the app, re-logged in, and this time typed in my ID without any caps. Now the app is working.
