How to Increase C Drive Space in Windows 11 without Formatting

Due to previous mistake. I only allocated 80GB storage for Windows OS. Now, there is only 10GB free space left in my C drive as Windows 11 eats up more space than Windows 10. In fact, there is a plenty of free space available in D drive (nearly 100GB). Is there any to how to increase c drive space in windows 11 without formatting the drive?

I don't want to reinstall Windows 11 as it is really a time consuming task. Kindly share your experience if you knew how to add more space to C drive in Windows 11 without formatting.

P.S. there is no option to extend C drive in Windows 11 when opening the Disk Management app.

  • I ran into the same issue with my C drive running low on space in Windows 11, while my D drive had plenty. Since Disk Management didn’t have the extend option for C, I used Partition Master to reallocate space from D to C without formatting or reinstalling anything. It was quick, and I didn’t lose any data—super helpful for freeing up space without the hassle!

I found it here: (worked for me):

    It’s handled everything I’ve needed—resizing, merging, formatting—with data safety as a priority.

You'll need to remember to regularly back up your external drive, as well as keep track of the files you've moved to it. It's easy to forget, and that's a recipe for disaster if you lose your external drive or it gets corrupted. Accessing files on an external drive can be slower than having them on your C drive. This might be a problem if you're someone who relies heavily on your computer for work or gaming.
