How to export whatsapp chat history on PC from my Android phone
Hey guys,
Got tons of old WhatsApp chats on my Android phone and want to save them to my Windows 11 PC before getting a new phone. Some of these conversations go back years, so it'd be nice to keep the messages, photos, and videos together.
I checked WhatsApp's export option, but it looks like you have to export each chat separately. That's going to take forever.
Is there an easier way to export all my WhatsApp chats on PC from my Android phone in one go? Don't really need anything fancy, just want to make sure nothing important gets lost.
Anyone tried this before?

To export whatsapp chat on pc Windows 11 and save it as a PDF for free, start by opening WhatsApp on your Android phone and selecting the conversation you want to keep. Tap More → Export chat, choose whether to include media, and transfer the exported .txt file to your Windows 11 PC using a USB cable or Quick Share. You can then convert the text file into a PDF using Windows' built-in printing options, without purchasing dedicated conversion software.
Useful Command Prompt Commands:
1. Create a folder for your exported chats
mkdir "%USERPROFILE%\Documents\WhatsApp-Export"
2. Copy the exported chat file to that folder
copy "C:\Path\chat.txt" "%USERPROFILE%\Documents\WhatsApp-Export\"
Replace C:\Path\chat.txt with the actual location of your exported file. These commands organize your files but do not convert them to PDF.
Convert the Chat to PDF for Exporting WhatsApp Chat on PC Windows 11:
1. Open the transferred .txt file in a suitable text editor.
2. Press Ctrl + P.
3. Select Microsoft Print to PDF, if available.
4. Choose a filename and save the PDF.Important: The name whatsapp-chat-to-pdf may refer to a specific project. Verify its official source, license, and Windows compatibility before installing it. The built-in method is free, but it may not preserve WhatsApp's original chat bubbles or include images automatically.

You can use Quick Share to export whatsapp chat on pc from Android for free, but Quick Share transfers files rather than exporting chats directly from WhatsApp. First, open WhatsApp, select a conversation, tap More → Export chat, and save the exported file on your Android phone. Then use Quick Share to send the file to your Windows PC.
Requirements and precautions if Export WhatsApp Chat on PC from Android:
- Your Android phone and PC must support Quick Share or have the compatible app installed.
- Both devices should have Bluetooth enabled and the appropriate device visibility settings configured.
- Export the chat before transferring it; Quick Share cannot automatically export all WhatsApp conversations.
- Choose Include media if you need photos or videos, and keep in mind that export size limits may apply.
WhatsApp Export Chat + Quick Share is a free way to move readable WhatsApp conversations from Android to your PC without paid chat-export software.

WhatsApp Forensic Tool can export WhatsApp chat on PC from Android. The tool is built specifically for extracting, decrypting, and analyzing Android WhatsApp backups on Windows, Linux, or macOS. Once the database is decrypted, you can export conversations to HTML, CSV, JSON, or TXT formats.
The workflow looks roughly like this:
- Connect your Android phone via USB with USB Debugging turned on.
- Pull the encrypted backup (msgstore.db.cryptXX) from the phone's storage.
- Decrypt it using your encryption key.
- Export the chats to whichever format you prefer.
⚠️ This is where things get tricky. The tool cannot magically decrypt backups on its own. You have to provide one of these:
- The 64-character hexadecimal key that WhatsApp generates when you enable End-to-End Encrypted Backups (Settings > Chats > Chat Backup). If you never saved this key, you're out of luck.
- Root access to the phone to extract the key file from the protected system folder.
Without the key, the tool can pull the encrypted .crypt14 or .crypt15 file to your PC, but it cannot read the actual chat contents. If you want to export WhatsApp chat on PC from Android with this tool, it works, but only if you've got that 64-digit key saved somewhere. Otherwise, the built-in export is your realistic free option.

If you are going to export WhatsApp chat on PC Windows 11. Chatfossil is a Firefox-only browser extension that runs on WhatsApp Web and keeps a local copy of your messages in your browser's storage . You install it, open WhatsApp Web, and it starts archiving messages as they appear.
It archives what's loaded in WhatsApp Web and lets you export as JSON — but only messages you've scrolled through after installing it.
The Steps:
1. Install Chatfossil as a Firefox extension on your Windows 11 PC.
2. Open WhatsApp Web (web.whatsapp.com) and scan the QR code.
3. Let it sync — the extension starts keeping a local copy of messages as they appear.
4. Browse your chats normally; the more you scroll, the more gets archived.
5. Search and filter by date, sender, or chat, then hit Export as JSON when ready.
If you want to export WhatsApp chat on PC Windows 11 in a searchable, structured format, Chatfossil works — but it's a gradual archiving tool, not a one-click exporter.

Keeping old WhatsApp conversations before changing phones is easier when the exported data can be reviewed directly on Windows. Farooq Chat Viewer works with WhatsApp exports already saved on the PC and lets you browse the conversations locally, check older messages, identify the sender, and open supported attachments without needing the original phone online. This gives export whatsapp chat on PC a practical way to preserve and review existing chat exports before moving to a new device.
Export whatsapp chat on PC from saved conversations:
1️⃣: Prepare the files:
Export the WhatsApp conversations from Android and keep each conversation's transcript and included attachments together; you can also use the program's ZIP import option.
2️⃣: Open the collection:
Launch the Windows application, select the folder containing your saved WhatsApp conversations, and choose a chat to begin reading it from the latest available user message.
3️⃣: Review and preserve:
Use the built-in reader to check the messages and supported media, then keep the original exported folders as your backup copy; the viewer does not modify the source transcripts or media.
One useful advantage is that the program works locally without connecting to a WhatsApp account or uploading the archive to an online service, while its reader supports messages, photos, stickers, audio, video and documents; the main limitation is that it cannot recover information that was never included in the original WhatsApp export.

I wanted to keep several years of WhatsApp conversations before moving to a new phone, but exporting chats individually was becoming a hassle. I first kept the older chat archives together on my PC and then came across WhatsApp Chat Browser while looking for a way to make those files easier to work with. It lets me open several chat histories, merge them into one timeline, and filter messages by date, which made it much easier to go through everything on my PC. For this kind of export WhatsApp chat from Android on PC task, I found the approach more convenient than handling each saved conversation separately.
How I Organize the Chats:
Step 1: Download the Windows version from the project's GitHub release page and launch it.
Step 2: Open and select the WhatsApp chat archives you already have. Multiple files can be loaded together.
Step 3: Merge to put separate chat histories into one timeline. This is useful when several archived conversations need to be reviewed together.
Step 4: By date and set the period you want to inspect.
Step 5: Start the built-in server and open the generated local page in your browser to read the combined conversations.
The main drawback is that the program works with WhatsApp chat archives rather than directly accessing the WhatsApp database on the Android phone. Some WhatsApp information is also absent from exported histories, so it cannot recreate data that was never included in the archive. Overall, it is useful when export WhatsApp chat from Android on PC means organizing and reviewing existing WhatsApp archives on Windows.

I ran into the same situation with years of WhatsApp conversations and wanted to keep a readable copy on my PC instead of leaving everything on the phone. I found that wa-backup fits this use case well because it can process an exported WhatsApp ZIP and turn the messages and available media into local files such as HTML, Markdown, JSON, and CSV, making the archive easier to browse and keep.
How to export WhatsApp chat from Android on PC:
- Export the chat➡️On Android, open the WhatsApp conversation, choose More → Export chat, and select With media if you want the attachments included.
- Move the ZIP to the PC➡️Transfer the exported ZIP file from your phone to a folder on the Windows PC.
- Process the ZIP➡️The PC receives the exported ZIP as input. It reads the _chat.txt file and matches the available media from the same export.
- Open the finished archive➡️The tool creates files such as messages.html, messages.json, messages.md, messages.csv, and a media folder.Open the HTML file in a browser to view the conversation.
Advantages: It runs locally, does not require an account or server, and keeps the exported messages and available media together. GitHub
Limitations: It processes WhatsApp's exported ZIP rather than the WhatsApp database itself, so you still need to export chats individually, and media that is missing from the original export cannot be recovered by the tool.
