How to export whatsapp chat history on PC from my Android phone
WhatsApp Forensic Tool can export WhatsApp chat on PC from Android. The tool is built specifically for extracting, decrypting, and analyzing Android WhatsApp backups on Windows, Linux, or macOS. Once the database is decrypted, you can export conversations to HTML, CSV, JSON, or TXT formats.
The workflow looks roughly like this:
- Connect your Android phone via USB with USB Debugging turned on.
- Pull the encrypted backup (msgstore.db.cryptXX) from the phone's storage.
- Decrypt it using your encryption key.
- Export the chats to whichever format you prefer.
⚠️ This is where things get tricky. The tool cannot magically decrypt backups on its own. You have to provide one of these:
- The 64-character hexadecimal key that WhatsApp generates when you enable End-to-End Encrypted Backups (Settings > Chats > Chat Backup). If you never saved this key, you're out of luck.
- Root access to the phone to extract the key file from the protected system folder.
Without the key, the tool can pull the encrypted .crypt14 or .crypt15 file to your PC, but it cannot read the actual chat contents. If you want to export WhatsApp chat on PC from Android with this tool, it works, but only if you've got that 64-digit key saved somewhere. Otherwise, the built-in export is your realistic free option.
