How do I change the Windows 11 startup sound?
I am unable to change the startup sound on WIndows 11. How do I change it?
I have already changed the registry and was able to change the startup sound to the one I want. However it's still using the default Windows system sound
- Double check your Registry Edit and make sure its properly setup otherwise other than that I am at a loss of what the issue could be. Strange. I would definitely report this to the Feedback Hub and see if they have a solution.

I know I am late to the party, but the easiest way to change the startup sound is to use the StartupSoundChanger program.

I found it's by far the easiest way to do it. No registry hacking or task scheduler events. Just run this (it will require .NET 3.0 or something but it will take care of downloading it) and replace the start up sound with the wav file of your choosing.
Some Windows update will undo the change, but it's easy enough to just change it again. It's a shame that changing all the system sounds isn't as easy as it used to be.

Alabamatom1963 Thank you for the link! It is peculiar that these settings were once in the system settings by default. It is a shame that the programmers at Windows cannot leave stuff that works alone and seem to be making things difficult unnecessarily.
- rajarshiacharya96Copper ContributorThis is the Windows Logon Sound and not the Startup Sound. This here is a better and more accurate guide on how to change the Windows Startup Sound:
