How can I take a screenshot on a Windows 7 computer?
Hi everyone,
I'm currently working on a Windows 7 computer and I don't know how to take screenshots, especially scrolling screenshots. I guess there are probably several ways to do it, but I'm looking for the simplest method. Can anyone guide me through the steps or suggest the best tools to take screenshot on Windows 7?
P.S. Are there any built-in tools or keyboard shortcuts that can make this process easier. Also, if there are any good 3rd-party screenshot tool that offer more edit features, I'd love to hear about those too.

For Windows 7, try the SnipTake tool for simple screenshots. It's simple, has extra editing features, and works great on Windows 11 and 10. I've been using this tool for almost two years! I like it!

If you have Microsoft OneNote installed, you can take screenshots in Windows 7 directly using it. Press Windows Key + Shift + S to activate OneNote’s screen clipping feature. After selecting the area you want to capture, OneNote will open with your screenshot ready for further annotation and organization.
Take screenshot on Windows 7 with the Xbox Game Bar:
Press the Windows key + G to open the Game Bar overlay on your screen. While primarily designed for gaming, it can also capture screenshots in any application.
Once the Game Bar is open, locate the camera icon, which represents the screenshot function. Click this icon or press Windows + Alt + PrtScn as a shortcut to capture a screenshot of your current window.
After taking the screenshot, a notification will appear, confirming the screenshot was captured successfully. Click on this notification to quickly access the screenshot, or find it saved in the Videos/Captures folder in File Explorer. You can also find your screenshots in the Game Bar’s Gallery folder by clicking the Widgets Menu, then selecting Gallery.You can use Alt+PrintScreen to take a screenshot of the active window. In addition, the included cropping tool* (%windir%\system32\SnippingTool.exe) allows you to select the area to capture, among other functions.
If you love keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl + Shift + 4 on Mac, you can set something similar for the Snipping Tool. Right-click the Snipping Tool shortcut, go to Properties, then Shortcut, and set a shortcut key you like. This way, you can quickly open it with your chosen combo.
I have Windows 10 Pro on my laptop and after a long time I tried to take screen on my Windows using Alt + Print Screen. But when I press Alt + Print Screen and go to Paint or Word to paste, the "Paste" option stays grayed out and even using Ctrl + V does nothing. What could be the problem?

A Firefox add-on called FireShot that allows you to take screenshots of web pages, including scrolling screenshots. This is how I always operate to take a screenshot on a Windows 7 computer.
- I remember using Skitch to take a screenshot for my blog posts and tutorials. It was super easy to use - just launch the app, select the capture area, and voilà! You've got a screenshot. I loved how customizable it was, too. You can adjust the capture area, add annotations, and even share it directly from Skitch.
I've used Snagit and Skitch in my previous work, and they're both fantastic tools. Snagit is more powerful, but Skitch is free and easy to use. If you're looking for a simple solution, I'd recommend using the built-in Snipping Tool or trying Skitch to take a screenshot on a Windows 7 computer.
