File Explorer ribbon and address bar disappeared?

My Windows File Explorer interface is abnormal. The top function bar has completely disappeared, the address bar is invisible, and the title bar is blank.

  • Hello,

Suggest you to run System File Checker scan:

    1. Search for 'command prompt' using Cortana or Windows Search.

    1. From results, right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

    1. Type sfc /scannow command and press Enter key.

    1. Let the command complete and then reboot the machine.

If issue still persists, perform clean boot:

    OK nice, thank you.

And now that the explorer has been restarted a few dozen times, what must I do to get a title bar on it?

Restart Windows Explorer. This is the easiest and fastest potential fix. It restarts the process that draws the entire Windows shell, including the taskbar and File Explorer.

    1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
    2. Find Windows Explorer in the list of processes.
    3. Right-click on it and select Restart.

See if File Explorer returns to normal. If not, proceed.
