DWM crash error and can not log into my PC

After trying to update my pc the update installed and prompted a restart. I restarted the pc and while it was trying to finish the installation on startup I saw a message saying something like, "the update didn't go as planned", then rebooted. Since then every time I try to log in I get the following message:

"Your session was logged off because DWM crashed. Please contact your administrator for further information and check the event log."

Then it resets to the login screen again, so I am unable to login at all.

I've tried practically every option in the "Windows Recovery Environment", command prompts, system repair, system reboot etc and nothing is working. Even though safe mode allows my to log in I still get the error message and am unable to do anything.

Please can someone tell me what is the solution for this??

  • Download PC HelpSoft Driver Updater and install it on your PC.

Start the scanning process to search for outdated or missing drivers that cause problems.

Right-click on Update Now to allow the update process.

Remember to back up any important files if you can access them through Safe Mode or by connecting your hard drive to another computer.
