copilot with a local account?
hi I've yet to see this explicitly stated, but it appears logging on with a MS account is required for copilot - true? If not, what's the secret to enabling it on a local account? thanks! M...

Currently, CoPilot does not work in all global markets, a local account - not a problem - if you use Edge and are logged in to Edge for Bing 🙂

Thanks. My 'global market' is Texas, so I can see why there might be delays 🙂 but it does work when I log in with my MS account.
Very very VERY strongly against having to log in to anything but a local account to use my PC, though. Especially Bing. I'm old enough to remember what the word 'privacy' means...
thanks again
Mike
- oldtrekky1Dec 16, 2023Copper ContributorAdd me in as a lover of privacy AND as a lover of ease of use. I USUALLY have Bing set as my search engine, but I almost never login with my MS account. It annoys me no end to have to login to it with MS Office, even though I AM paying for the programs USING my MS account. MS is getting SO intrusive, and controlling, I am SERIOUSLY thinking about Ubuntu, etc. Or maybe Ubuntu in a VM for all my non-MS workflow. Linux has a number of FREE office substitutes and that means I might only need MS for using Photoshop, and a couple of other MS-centric apps.
- fggIBDec 03, 2023Iron ContributorAs on 12/02/2023, Copilot is not showing up with local account on any Windows 11 Build except for Canary Build 26002.
If I set the registry bit IsUserEligible to 1 in the registry key BingChat, I can get Copilot enabled, but the bit gets reset to zero after a reboot or a sign off/on.
This seems to contradict a statement from a MS Blog stating that Copilot should be available with Local user accounts for a limited number of interactions.
I really don't want to login to a MS account just to get the stupid Copilot A.I. (Aka Absolute Idiocy).
Since I refuse to login with a MS account, I will just not use the stupid windows Copilot.
It is also available in MS Edge, so the Windows Copilot seems to be a redundant way to use the same B.S. 😂😂
