Apple Airpods Bluetooth issue on Windows 11
I've just upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11 and got some strange issue on Bluetooth audio. The volume is seem softer than Windows 10 that I must turn the volume to Maximum but it is still too soft.
This worked for me:
Go to start ->Run ->MMSYS.CPL
select Playback tab ->then select the airpods pro (highlight) ->and click properties
In the 'headphones' properties dialog box --> select Enhancement tab --> select Loudness Equalization (tick mark)
Now click Apply and OK.

thinh191 Working with both Windows 10 and 11, and the volume is very low on W11... tried all the solutions... the problem still exists!

thinh191 FIXED!!!!!
connect airpodstry to disable mic input option in sound
what really fixes it though is..
Search -> Device Manager -> click on both "audio inputs and outputs" as well as "Sound. video, and game controllers" and disable each instance of the "hands-free" versio0n. if you do not see hands free version, try re-pairing or resetting your airpods and check again.
After disabling, restart the pc and reconnect headphones, should work!!

spars002 It worked, because we turn off the input device which is a problem here. This is not a solution, but a workaround. I think it is not possible to use Airpods Max with built-in microphone without sound quality glitch. It is some internal mechanism that decreses quality for phone calls for some reason. The solution would be force Apple to update the headphones and fix this issue...
- mateusmaaiaCopper ContributorThis worked like a charm! Thanks a ton!

thinh191 I had this exact issue with my airpods, I tried many possible solutions; but nothing seemed to work.
HOWEVER, make sure you have done every single update available on windows 11. After doing about 5 updates, my sound settings on my airpods have become normal (like on windows 10).
Hope this helps :]
- raff8590Copper ContributorI’ll have a look. Thank you!!
- raff8590Copper ContributorNothing is working. Everything was fine I think until the upgrade to Windows 11. Bummer. Thanks for all the suggestions.
- Panjiya2017Copper ContributorASUS motherboard? ASUS Armory Crate was the culprit for me. Everything is PERFECT now. The "AI noise cancelling" feature runs at all times so it accesses your mic if you don't designate a separate mic other than your Airpod Pro/Max as a default.
Find "NoiseCancellingEngine.exe" in task manager and end the process.
I just uninstalled Armory Crate completely so I don't have to deal with it.

I guess that the problem is caused by the Microsoft Teams application, it overrides the audio canals, quitting it solved the problem for me.

Okay so,
I've read through most of this and have resolved this for myself. I tried changing the DisableAbsoluteVolume, forgetting and uninstalling the air pods/drivers. Restarted, nothing.
As a last attempt I uninstalled all air pod drivers under under Audio Inputs, Bluetooth, and Sound, Video and Game Controllers, I disabled the instance in sound settings (run mmsys.cpl), and I "Forgot" them from the windows 11 Bluetooth settings.
I restarted the laptop, and in the meantime I "Forgot" them from my iPhone. I have Apple Air pods Gen 2. held the button down with them in the case for 15 seconds or so until there's an amber light. Then, when the light turns white, let go. This should reset them.
I first paired to my laptop after it booted back up, and boom fixed.
hOpeE tHis heLpS- sverkauuCopper ContributorGod, thank you so much. I've had this issue for over a month now and tried every method and thought about downgrading back to W10, but this helped.
