Any recommendations for best heic to jpg converters Windows 11?
Hello, everyone, can you recommend a best HEIC to JPG converter for Windows 11? I have a lot of HEIC format photos recently, but I find it inconvenient to view and use them directly on Windows 11. I searched for some conversion tools online, but I feel that there are too many choices and I don’t know which one is more reliable and convenient to use. I often use Windows 11's Photos app to process HEIC files because it's a quick and easy method. First, I double-click the HEIC image and it automatically opens in the Photos app. Then, I click the three dots ("...") in the upper-right corner and select "Save As". A save dialog box pops up, where I select JPG as the format and click Save. It's a very straightforward process that doesn't require any additional software.
Although it's convenient to convert HEIC to JPG using Windows 11's Photos app, there are some drawbacks:
- Single-file operation: This method can only process one file at a time, which can be time-consuming if you have a lot of HEIC files to convert.
- Lack of batch processing: Since there's no built-in batch processing function, it's not suitable for situations where you need to convert a large number of files.
- Basic functionality: The editing and adjustment functions of this app are basic, and may not meet your needs if you need to perform more complex image editing.
These limitations may make some users feel that they are not efficient enough, especially when they need to process a large number of images. If you need to perform this type of operation frequently, you may still need to consider other more professional heic to jpg converter tools.
On Windows 11 you actually don’t need a separate converter if you just want to view HEIC photos — Microsoft offers a free HEIF Image Extensions add-on in the Microsoft Store. Once installed, the built-in Photos app can open HEIC images directly.
If you want to make them JPG without third-party tools, you can:
Open the HEIC in the Photos app, then use Save as or Print → Microsoft Print to PDF/JPEG to export as JPG.
Or open in Paint, then choose File → Save as → JPEG picture.
It’s not as fast as a dedicated converter for big batches, but it’s free, built-in, and keeps the image quality.
