Your device is missing important security and quality fixes.
Does anyone know how to fix Windows update saying “you’re not up-to-date” “your device is missing important security and quality fixes” i’ve reinstalled windows several times using a USB media and also the upgrade now feature neither of them have worked for me. I’ve tried clearing the update cache to clear out any corrupt files also didn’t work, I really don’t understand what could be causing this because the drives have been completely wiped and it’s a fresh install of windows, I even tried re-downloading it onto the USB just in case the download was messed up somehow, It also says my pc is enrolled in ESU so I should be getting the newest updates, at this point I think it might be something on Microsoft end

I experienced a very similar issue on Windows 10 22H2 Consumer ESU, and I was able to reproduce it on a freshly installed system.
In my case, the August 2026 cumulative update KB5120249 was successfully installed and the system reached OS build 19045.7663. The August 2026 .NET Framework update KB5121647 was also successfully installed. DISM and SFC both reported no corruption, and the built-in ESU enrollment wizard explicitly confirmed that the device was already enrolled and receiving Extended Security Updates.
Despite that, Windows Update continued to display “Your device is missing important security and quality fixes.”
One particularly interesting finding was that the WaaSAssessment data itself reported the installed build 10.0.19045.7663 as up to date, while the Windows Update UI continued to report the warning.
I documented the full investigation, including the diagnostic steps and the successful workaround, here on Microsoft Q&A:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5981117/windows-10-22h2-consumer-esu-missing-important-sec
The workaround appears to involve refreshing the WaaSAssessment state, but I am not presenting the registry procedure as an officially supported Microsoft fix. I am sharing the finding so that Microsoft and other affected users can investigate the underlying status mismatch.
Hopefully this helps others experiencing the same ESU/update-status problem.

Ensure your Windows license is activated properly. Sometimes, licensing issues can interfere with updates. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation and verify your activation status.
