Windows 10 limits Wi-Fi download speeds to 6MB/s, though hotspots function normally.

When connected to Wi-Fi, the computer’s download speed is limited to 6MB/s (even with multiple tasks), but network speed tests appear normal. A phone connected to the same Wi-Fi achieves full speed. When the computer switches to a mobile hotspot, downloads return to normal. What could be the cause and solution?

The router might prioritize or limit bandwidth for your PC, either through QoS settings or device-specific restrictions.

Your router might be applying Quality of Service (QoS) rules that prioritize or limit bandwidth for certain devices or applications.

Updating drivers, adjusting advanced adapter settings, switching bands, and resetting network configurations often resolve these issues.

Your issue sounds like a network throttling or configuration problem specific to your computer's Wi-Fi connection, especially since other devices and speed tests show normal speeds, but your PC is limited to about 6MB/s.

In Device Manager, update the wireless network adapter driver and check whether the option “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” is ticked under the Power Management tab.
