Official windows HEVC app no longer creating thumbnails for videos
Using the HEVC video extensions app by microsoft from the microsoft store, it used to create thumbnails for videos that were encoded with HEVC. However, this is no longer the case and instead the videos now show up as the default media player thumbnail. Is anyone else experiencing this?

- 52553Copper ContributorI was actually able to get it to work by downgrading to version 2.1.41 from January, I got it from here: https://hevc-video-extensions-from-device-manufacturer.en.uptodown.com/windows/versions . It’s not an ideal solution because it’s from a third party, but it works until Microsoft patches it in a newer version
- MikeP1295Copper ContributorThank you for this! I downloaded and installed version 2.1.41 and didn't even need to reopen the explorer window that had missing thumbnails, I just hit refresh and boom, the thumbnails appeared.

52553I'm currently running into this same issue. The other day I ran disk cleanup and deleted my thumbnail cache. Ever since then, my PC hasn't been generating thumbnails for HEVC videos. I tried uninstalling the HEVC Video Extensions app and reinstalling, but it didn't help. I'm a bit OCD, so it's a problem. Let me know if you have any luck getting it solved.
- 52553Copper ContributorI haven't found a fix yet sadly, I think the app had an update on the 14th that broke it, different drivers, and fresh installing windows didn't help. it's probably not that big of an issue for other people so idk how soon it'll get fixed, but it's really annoying lol
