KOBO Arc no longer connects to Win 10

Hoping someone can help with this.

Been using this Kobo arc for at least 10 years on this computer with no problems.   As of tonight, it no longer connects (last time I connected was only a week ago or so).  I see the Arc in the device manager but with a question mark.  Information, shows no driver loaded.  When I try to update the driver using the update driver dialog, I get message that the MTP USB Device system file was not found.  I locate wpdmtp.inf in the Windows/INF folder, but right click/install yields a 'file not found' error.

Kobo Arc connects to WIn 11 computer no problem using the same cable.

Tried various fixes found on internet, but haven't found anything that works.

Nothing else, including other USB periperals, are acting weird or unusual.

For some reason, my responses to posts don't show up.

Ive tired deleting the instance in device manager.  Windows reboots, discovers the Arc, then advises the driver can not be loaded.

Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager)

Find your Kobo Arc under Portable Devices or Universal Serial Bus controllers

Right-click on the device with the question mark and select Uninstall device

    Disconnect the Kobo Arc

    Restart your computer

Reconnect the Kobo Arc and see if Windows attempts to reinstall the driver automatically.

Thanks for your comment.  This is the thrid time I've responded but for some reason, my responses don't seem to stick.

In any case, I've tried your suggestions everal times an no change.  Windoows discovers the device but adivsed the driver would not load.

Hi.  Thanks for your tip, but I've tried that several times and the result is always the same:  Windows finds the Kobo but I get a message that the driver failed to install.

Thanks for your suggestion but I've tried that about 20 times.  The result is always the same:  I get a message that the device was discovered but the driver could not be loaded.

PS: Ran SFC which didn't find any corrupted or missing files.  .
